Debbi Cordano, ROAR Board Member
Debbi had a successful dual career as a high school English teacher and a professional fundraiser. A graduate of the University of Southern California (USC) as an English major and of Azusa Pacific University with a master’s degree, Debbi spent 12 years in the classroom as a teacher and 27 years raising money for hospitals and universities. In retirement, Debbi spends her time as a volunteer for charities that are near and dear to her heart. She is a volunteer for the Gilb Museum of Natural History in Arcadia and raises money for scholarships for undergraduate USC students living in the San Gabriel Valley. A passion of Debbi’s is live theater. She travels to New York annually to see current Broadway plays and is also a season ticket holder for the theater season at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles. Debbi is eager to help bring quality theater and other arts to underserved communities.
Barbara Schan, ROAR board member
Barbara has a bachelor's degree in education from Cal Poly Pomona. She served on the board for a private school and has held several board offices including Chair and Treasurer. She also taught art classes and ardently believes that art education opportunities are a vital asset to any community. Barbara has devoted herself to volunteerism and is excited to be involved in bringing quality cultural and educational experiences to rural communities which are very often deprived of these opportunities.
Christina Schultz, ROAR Co-founder and President
Christina has 30 years of higher education leadership experience with a successful history of building ground-up fundraising programs, developing complex projects, and creating high-impact, sustainable infrastructure. She has been responsible for programming, producing, and marketing music, dance, theater, documentary film screenings and art exhibitions. Christina has managed several performing arts venues ranging in size from 300 to 2,000 seats, as well as a Museum Gallery. In 2010 Christina co-created DOCUTAH, an annual International Documentary Film Festival (selected as one of the nation’s best 12 “small town” film festivals by PBS and one of the 25 “coolest” film festivals in the world by MovieMaker Magazine) and served as Executive Director for five years.
Christina holds two degrees from the University of Southern California: Master of Arts - Communications Management Annenberg School for Communication and Bachelor of Science - Business Administration (Specializing in Marketing) The Marshall School of Business. Christina received the Utah Business Women (UBW) Woman of Achievement Award (2010), the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Woman of the Year Award (2011), was named in ‘St. George Magazine’ as one of the “12 Most Influential Women in Southern Utah” (2014) and was honored with the Veterans Medical Leadership Council Community Heroes Award (2018) in Arizona.
Uyen Tran, ROAR Board Member
Growing up in Saigon, Vietnam, Uyen developed her artistic talents by observing Indian, Thai, Cambodian, and Chinese artisans as they engaged in the craft of handcrafted art. Upon arriving in the United States at the age of 12, her profound comprehension of both Eastern and Western cultures is evident in her distinctly diverse designs. Uyen’s extensive professional experience spans the corporate and nonprofit sectors: Director of Operations with over 28 years of experience in leading design and architectural firms and held positions at renowned institutions such as the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc), the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), and the North Carolina Museum of History (NCMOH).
Tony Zalewski, ROAR Co-founder and Secretary-Treasurer
Tony has enjoyed an eclectic career spanning working in Hollywood and serving as chairman of one of the WGA’s committees to becoming a contractor for various DoD agencies. However, Tony’s primary passion has always been for all forms of arts. After having to retire due to disability to a rural community he was dismayed by the dearth of cultural opportunities. Tony’s goal is to make quality arts that are often commonplace in cities available to rural communities, especially for senior citizens and the young.
